The story, which can be discovered by exploring the environment, is incredibly intelligent, the music is some of the best I have ever heard in a game, the visuals are excellent, the hide-and-seek style gameplay is incredibly intense, the atmosphere is the perfect balance between cute and creepy and best of all, the game manages to give you a great horror rush without being M/18+.
There is a lot more, but this review is already long. there is a room with two hanging legs and a chair which is clear indications to someone committed suicide, and could be VERY mentally jarring for any kid, or adult, who has lost someone to self harm. there is a lot of bloody meat in this game. throughout the game you have rooms where you're introduced to fever dreams of seemingly through a child's eyes of being on a bed, making scared child noises, while shadow figures come closer and closer to the child's eyes.ģ. they chop viciously at hunks of mangled un-identify-able meat, that's about your size.Ģ. there are tons of scary humanoid monsters that all want to eat the main character. Here are a list of some of the things that are awfully scary and you might not want to show your kids.ġ.
and it does a GREAT JOB! seriously, 9 year old me got nightmares, and i'm the type of kid that watched Coraline as a 3 year old and thought it was the best movie i'd ever seen. the game is filled with things like this, getting more scary and more scary until you basically want to quit. the game stars off in a hallway where you have to navigate a VERY small child through a sludge pit of leaches, that all try to strangle you to death and unless you're a video game LEGAND they will succeed multiple times. Let me give you an example of what i mean. plus, the colors and lighting and overall asthetic just gives you this creepy vibe of "AHHHHHHH!" it makes you feel like your character isn't the least bit safe. Ok, don't get me wrong, this game is AMAZING! But if you think this is a kids game you would be WRONG! This game is HORRIFYING!! It has messages of cannibalism, child abuse, starvation, suicide, death, poverty, and gluttony.
